I’m researching a novel, working title Shiloh Women, inspired by 5 women who lived in the Lewiston/Auburn area in the 1890s. In honor of Women’s history month, I’ll share the stories of these women at the Woman’s Literary Union on Thursday March 12 at 2:00.

Hi Claire,
I’m Janet Mitchko, the Co-Artistic Director at The Public Theatre. I just heard your piece “Like Shit on a Cracker” in the ArtWalk and liked it. As the theatre is open to collaborating with Maine writers, I was wondering if you had any projects you think might be appropriate to develop as a play. As theatre professionals, Christopher Schario (the other Co-Artistic Director) and I have a history of developing new plays with playwrights from our earlier days in New York and at Carnegie-Mellon. Your language in “SOAC” was theatrically heightened yet accessible and active and I could very clearly imagine it being performed. Truthfully, it would make a nice audition monologue.
While we are In this time of hibernation, if this idea appeals to you and you think you might have something we should take a look at, let me know. My email is jmainegel@gmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
Janet
