Seven readers and a packed room!
Last Friday we tackled the dual theme of Fear & Hope with fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction at Quiet City Books. The pieces were arranged roughly from light to dark, then after intermission from dark back to light. More people came than we expected, so we were scrambling to add seats, and the energy in the room was high.
On a personal note, I was long-past-due for a haircut, so my hair game was poor; but my lip-color-matching-dress game was fierce.
Many thanks to QCB owner Courtney MacMunn Schlacter, who couldn’t have been a better host; Josh Gauthier, my partner in organizing this event; and our fantastic guest readers.
What a great night–I won’t be coming down from this high for a while.
